Home projection customization
The projection function is mainly provided in two parts.
The optical electronic part includes DLP controller chip, power management block, and lighting driver chip. It can also have an application processor and a front-end interface processor. In addition to managing the projection system, the application processor can also support gesture control, interactivity, or other features.
The optical part includes DLP DMD, lighting devices (usually led), optical elements (lens, filter, etc.), and related mechanical elements. These components are integrated into a compact and durable Assembly called an optical engine. The size and shape of the light engine depends on the resolution, brightness, projection ratio and other technical specifications, as well as other design factors.

A surface may not be suitable for projection due to color, pattern, or surface curvature (for example, kitchen stove or wallpaper). This problem can be overcome by additional brightness and algorithms to compensate for surface geometry, color, and pattern.
It is often necessary to modify the equipment to meet the existing location and wiring environment. Naturally, the projected surface may not align with the projected lens. This problem can be solved by trapezoid distortion correction and scaling function. Pitch and rotation adjustments for the projection module will also help.
Size and shape
The size and shape required is another design consideration. The projection module needs to be integrated into the existing household appliances while maintaining the beautiful appearance. The size of the light engine is mainly determined by its brightness, resolution and transmittance for smart home applications. The light engine can be small enough to be integrated into a smartphone or tablet, so that the appearance or design of any home appliance will not be affected. At the other end of the spectrum, they can project vivid, beautiful images with a width of 100 inches.
Function definition considerations
The technical specifications of the projector will be determined by the required image size, the type of display surface, the required overall dimension when integrated into the terminal equipment and the distance from the projection part to the display surface. The final specification needs to be balanced among the following key requirements.
The total output lumens of the projector will depend on the required image size and ambient light conditions. If the projected surface contains some color or pattern (such as kitchen stove), you may need to increase the brightness by 20-30%. The recommended projector brightness values for different image sizes and ambient light conditions are given in Table 1.
The required resolution is mainly determined by the content or information to be displayed. If the content is a photo or video, the resolution should be 720p (1280 × 720) or 1080p (1920 × 1080). The resolution of WVGA (854 × 480) or 720p is enough for displaying general information such as text information and graphic symbols.
